How We Fight our Enemy | King Jehoshaphat | Hal Mayer
1. We FORTIFY ourselves against the enemy.
2 Chronicles 17:1-4 ESV
1 Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his place and strengthened himself against Israel. 2 He placed forces in all the fortified cities of Judah and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim that Asa his father had captured. 3 The Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the earlier ways of his father David. He did not seek the Baals, 4 but sought the God of his father and walked in his commandments, and not according to the practices of Israel.
• OBEDIENCE to God is rebellion against the enemy.
2 Chronicles 17:9 ESV
And they taught in Judah, having the Book of the Law of the Lord with them. They went about through all the cities of Judah and taught among the people.
• The Bible is our greatest defense in a world of lies.
Hebrews 4:12 ESV
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
2. We don't ALIGN ourselves with the enemy.
2 Chronicles 18:1-3 ESV
1 Now Jehoshaphat had great riches and honor, and he made a marriage alliance with Ahab. 2 After some years he went down to Ahab in Samaria. And Ahab killed an abundance of sheep and oxen for him and for the people who were with him, and induced him to go up against Ramoth-gilead. 3 Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, “Will you go with me to Ramoth-gilead?” He answered him, “I am as you are, my people as your people. We will be with you in the war.”
James 4:4 ESV
You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
• Always choose Godly council over a crowd that agrees with you.
3. When the enemy is at our doorstep, we GO to God.
2 Chronicles 20:1-4 ESV
1 After this the Moabites and Ammonites, and with them some of the Meunites, came against Jehoshaphat for battle. 2 Some men came and told Jehoshaphat, “A great multitude is coming against you from Edom, from beyond the sea; and, behold, they are in Hazazon-tamar” (that is, Engedi). 3 Then Jehoshaphat was afraid and set his face to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. 4 And Judah assembled to seek help from the Lord; from all the cities of Judah they came to seek the Lord.
Psalm 46:1 ESV
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
2 Chronicles 20:33 ESV
The high places, however, were not taken away; the people had not yet set their hearts upon the God of their fathers.
• We must choose TRANSFORMATION over reformation.

I changed my email address. I have called Duke energy and have the most amazing conversations that led to salvation of two different people. We are to go out and make fishers of men. Prayer is the exercise we do that pulls us into correspondence with what God already has in mind for us. We move our will to meet his, not the other way around.

WHY ARE CHRISTIAN MEN AFRAID TO CALL IT OUT??? It is an abomination to God. Stop just sweeping it under the bus as we don’t like it. BUUUUT!!! NO! It’s a simple. What they are doing is an abomination. The wages of sim are death. They are living separate from the father eternally. So sick of hearing they don’t know about God. They know exactly who they are mocking. Yes we are to live and pray but we are also supposed to speak against evil. You want to watch football so don’t call it all out. Get off the fence..

He doesn’t judge man, he judges the individual. Repent, resist sin, be good to your fellow man, and have faith. That is what he’ll base the individual off. Now if the entirety of man was all put into an individual, we’d all burn in the flames. That’s why Jesus died for our sins, so we wouldn’t all go down in flames.

    • @johnjonson6377

@@justaguy.9477 So we only get to be good if we were nice our whole life but must suffer the consequences of someone else? Our great lord chose to put us in here to test how much suffering we can withstand? If yes than this is some cruel punishment.

    • @justaguy.9477
      @justaguy.9477 7 днів тому

@@johnjonson6377Life is nor cruel nor punishment less you make it. Yes, we suffer from sin because Adam and Eve ate the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, yet that’s not all that life is. Life isn’t suffering, least it’s not supposed to be. We are created by God for God. We’re part of His artworks, His creations. As for why we still exist in the first place if the first humans were sinful, think about it this way; you have a bunch of fruits in a basket and you’re taking them home for you to enjoy. Out of all your fruits, few are beginning to rot. You wouldn’t toss away the basket because of a few rotten fruits. You worked 7 hard hours for all that fruit! So you go home, and you use the seeds from the rotting ones to grow new ones. Some rot, most don’t. When winter nears and you’re ready to harvest after tending to your garden for so long, you might find a fruit that’s amazingly better from the original. You might find many of these fruits! So you do away with the rot and bring the good ones in. Now, speaking in terms of God, all you have to simply do is replace the original rotted fruit with man. Main difference is that God can’t eat people. However, hell is still the dump, just with a different name. And unlike fruit, man has the option. Rot away eternally, or thrive and become better. Also unlike fruit, man has faith. Through Christ we thrive.

God doesn’t justify the bad things we do. What He does is He forgives us when we ask. He sent Jesus to the earth to die on the cross, and since He is a perfect being, He was the only way to cancel the debt to allow us to enter heaven, which is a perfect place.

I enjoy hearing their stories too, as they interject them into the sermons or in events like the marriage conference. Their stories of how they came to know God hells makes my husband and I feel safe. Safe in that we are at a church with others who know the struggle is real but through God’s redemptive plan, we can work at this together! This is not a superficial church at all. Even when I didn’t consider myself a Christian I always found myself begging for Gods help in all the hard times in my life and looking back now I’m amazed at all the times He protected me and saved me when I didn’t notice it. Since I’ve accepted Jesus as my Savior I still pray for His help and guidance. I still find myself in fear and confusion a lot of times but it’s so comforting knowing that even though I don’t have a clue what to do, that He does and is working in the background where I can’t see it. I talk to Him every day all day asking Him to help me with my mental instabilities. This may be taking longer than I’d like but I can tell a huge difference from the me I used to be. Thank you Jesus for your mercy and Your grace! Thank You for loving me unconditionally even though I make so many mistakes. I pray for everyone on this earth struggling and in pain. Even if you’re not saved, pray to Jesus for His help because someday when you finally accept Him as your Savior and Father you will start to recognize all those times He was there for you. As you pray to God He will start putting people into your life that love Him, love you and that want to help. Just like He has me.
